Key Accountabilities
  • Take delivery responsibility for a number of mid-sized to large projects and/or digital initiatives, often concurrently, in accordance with the organisational delivery frameworks, processes and tools to ensure deliverables are completed within the agreed baseline and that the expected stakeholder outcomes are achieved.
  • Provide effective leadership to the multi-disciplinary teams working on the allocated projects ensuring processes and tools are used effectively and the team is successful in their objectives.
  • Establish and build relationships with key customer contacts and stakeholders to ensure effective engagement, communication, issue resolution and implementation of the project objectives.
  • Ensure that identified risks and issues are assessed, their impact and probability are known, and mitigation strategies are developed, reported and when needed, enacted, and monitored.
  • Develop and maintain essential artefacts, including but not limited to, Project Plans, Exception Reports, progress reports and project Risk, Issue, Action, Decision and Dependency (RAIDD) logs.
  • Ensure that outcomes and benefits are forecast, planned and monitored to ensure their effective realisation.
  • This position may involve direct supervision of staff.

 
Key Requirements
  • Highly developed knowledge and experience in the delivery of projects in two or more of the following areas: COTS implementation, ICT infrastructure commissioning, software development, strategic sourcing, and/or business improvement.
  • Tertiary level qualifications and/or certification in Project Management and Program Management are highly desirable. These include one or more of: Diploma of Project Management, PRINCE2 Practitioner, PRINCE2 Agile Practitioner, Agile Project Management (AgilePM) Practitioner, Certified ScrumMaster, Management of Successful Programmes (MSP) Foundation.
  • Well-developed and demonstrated leadership and people management experience, including the ability empower people to achieve the best outcomes for the organisation, its stakeholders and the citizens of the ACT and surrounding region.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communications skills, including the ability to write for a range of government audiences, present information concisely and accurately to senior stakeholders, brief senior executives and deliver high quality documentation.
  • Excellent ability to accurately analyse and assess project health, with particular focus on risks and issues, in order to report on project status and inform decision making at critical junctures of delivery.
  • Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability to changing circumstances and multiple priorities and demands, including the ability to deliver under tight timeframes.
  • Demonstrated commitment to high quality customer service.
